Pelosi Statement on Trump Administration Biofuel Announcement

Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement following reports that the Trump Administration would be upholding its commitment to restore the Renewable Fuel Standard after earlier exempting dozens of oil refineries from meeting federally-mandated biofuel requirements:

"The sad fact is that the Trump Administration has been ruinous for America's farm families. While today's reversal by the Administration is a necessary and overdue step after the significant damage it has inflicted with its trade chaos and Big Oil giveaways, farm country is in crisis. House Democrats will remain vigilant to ensure that our farmers urgently receive adequate details about this new measure and that the Administration's plan is enacted by the end of the year to create the real benefits these hard-working Americans deserve.

"At a time of global economic uncertainty and a growing threat posed by the climate crisis, expanding the sale of homegrown clean energy is critical to providing urgently-needed relief for America's farmers and consumers. We must work to advance robust investments in renewable energy and provide America's farmers and rural communities the certainty they need to grow and thrive. Republicans should join us in this fight as we work For The People to lower health costs, raise wages by rebuilding our infrastructure and cleaning up corruption to make Washington work for everyone."
